MDC Alliance President Nelson Chamisa has described his former colleague Douglas Mwonzora, as a sell-out who was fighting an unwinnable petty agenda. For close to six months, Mwonzora, MDC-T interim secretary-general, has been on a warpath, frustrating the operations of the MDC Alliance through recalls on MPs and councillors claiming they had ceased to be MDC-T members. His strength is drawn from an earlier Supreme Court judgment that ruled Chamisa was not the legitimate leader of the MDC-T. The court judgement placed Thokozani Khupe as interim president of the party. The MDC-T has since been reconfigured using its 2014 structures and Mwonzora, who had been relegated to deputy secretary for international relations in the MDC Alliance, bounced back as interim secretary general.

Two gunman believed to have shot two Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) officers in Chivhu on Saturday have been arrested about 20 kilometres from Chivhu Central Business District. MDC Alliance has welcomed renewed attempts to resolve the country's crisis by South Africa's ruling African National Congress. ANC and State President Cyril Ramaphosa told South African media soon after his party's National Executive Meeting Monday that his governing party had resolved to engage all stakeholders in Zimbabwe. MDC Alliance vice-chairperson Job Sikhala was on Thursday denied bail by Harare Magistrate Lazini Ncube. Magistrate Ncube remanded Sikhala in custody to 17 September for routine remand. Sikhala was arrested on 21 August from his hiding place in Tynwald North, and charged with inciting public violence. Ncube ruled that Sikhala could not be granted bail as it took the police a long time to arrest him. Ncube further stated that Sikhala failed to submit himself to the police despite knowing that he was wanted for an interview. Sikhala’s lawyer Harrison Nkomo told reporters outside the court that they did not agree with the ruling and that Sikhala had instructed them to file an appeal with the High Court.
